DIGITAL DESIGN

Digital media makes a lot of the marketing world go around. From Social media to Advertising there are a large number of platforms we can reach our clients and fans. I work with our team to curate photography with the intent of putting together exciting content. I work hard to bring as much information and excitement to our products and ads, and paired with good design is what generates the best responses. Digital design also presents the best opportunity to learn from and anticipate trends with the speed of the internet. From 90s basketball cards to introduce new products to aspirational imagery with product overlay, we’ve had excellent success with engagement and sales.

I have been working with the Adobe suite of programs since College, beginning in 2003 with Photoshop coursework and more than a decade professionally using Illustrator, InDesign and Lightroom to enhance my work. This expertise has resulted in smoother work-flows- including bringing InDesign templates into practice for Ouray Sportswear- and has allowed for multi-faceted design pieces that have been easy to scale and easy to control all aspects across the many chanels available.

For design processes it is important to continue to research trends outside of the industry I work in, while still ensuring a finger on the pulse of any active winning strategies. A multi-pronged approach has allowed be to both set trends and react quickly in the digital space.

EMAIL CONTENT

When we have access to people through email we are given a chance to create personalized pieces they are more likely to engage with. Email and the segmentation and individual information that comes with it are direct letters to customers. I love seeing design that reaches to the casual reader in a way that may make a true fan out of them, including holiday gift guides and how-to educational pieces. And when we have die-hard fans of the company, it’s an excellent opportunity to properly share a deeper catalog of products and get into the nitty-gritty of what makes a brand so good.

I work very hard to not have to work hard all the time. From introducing InDesign to Ouray Sportswear to building out Data-Merged categories of 6000+ SKUs in the Umpqua Catalog, I make sure I use the tools given to me to the best of their ability. That allows me to pivot when needs arise, and iterate designs quickly resulting in more finesse and better project scope in limited time frames. Whenever I can pre-build steps into my processes, I will do so to make my life and those of my coworkers easier and more efficient.

Social media represents a huge swath of territory to focus on. From the age differences between Facebook and Tik-tok to the increasingly short attention spans of content viewers, it is a wild west for design. This is a space where we often have less than a second to catch someone’s eye, so it is the space where constant imagination and quick turns make all the difference. I love working with both the still imagery and short-form video of social media. Quick edits from longer format Youtube productions we make often result in excellent engagement and we can usually ensure a few different short edits highlighting different facets of our long format to great effect.
